Inscription


[on wall] Sacred to the memory of William McCLEAN late of Balluclare, County of Antrim, who was accidentally drowned near Carrickfergus on the 12 day of August 1831 aged 28 years. His body having been washed to the Scottish coast, was found near Portpatrick and here decently interred by the friendly and gracious inhabitants. To record the loss of a dutiful and affectionate son his afflicted parents have created this memorial.
