Inscription


Here rests the remains of William CALVIN of Dundraw in the County of Cumberland who was drowned on his passage from Douglas to Whitehaven on the 9th of Augt 1820 and found off this harbour on the 10th Sept following Aged 27 years. He was confidiential [sic] clerk to Andrew PATTEN and son - - - - - - - - of Manchester by whom and a few select friends who valued his many virtues this Stone is laid. Reader! If thou wouldst drop a tear at the tomb of genuine worth, drop it here.
