Inscription


Erected by James DOWNIE, Farmer, Spittal in memory of his daughter Margaret died 19th March 1875 aged 14 months. Also his father James DOWNIE died 4th Augt 1869 aged 64 years and his brother Dinnis DOWNIE died 22nd Janry 1867 aged 38 years. Also his son James died 19th April 1877 aged 15 years. Also his daughter Janet died 25th May 1896 aged 27 years. Also his mother Janet MARR died 18th July 1896 aged 92 years. Also James DOWNIE, the above, who died at Garnethill Hospital, Glasgow 26th February 1909, aged 75 years. Also Jessie QUEEN, beloved wife of the late James DOWNIE who died 15th July 1910 aged 75 years, their son David died at 30 Scotia Street, Glasgow on 20th Septr 1912 aged 41 years, interred in the Western Necropolis, their son John died at Kilmarnock 13th July 1913 aged 48 years.

Description:
Free standing head stone with tapered body and round top set in sandstone plinth with pick dressed panels. Raised floral decoration in panel below top of stone. In front of boundary wall and facing west.
