[large decorated stone with lead anchor inserted at the base] Erected by Andrew McCORMACK to the Memory of his Father John McCORMACK Master Mariner who died 23rd August 1843 aged 7l years and his brother Robert McCORMACK who was drowned 15th Septr 1839 aged 36 years Brother Seaman pass not by, my shattered Hull lies here My Anchor’s cast, when next it’s weigh’d new rigg’d I shall appear But tho’ I’m shipwreck’d in the Tomb, my Hull thus cast away I only wait to know my doom until the Judgement day Andrew McCORMACK died in Liverpool 16th June 1850 aged 41 years Sarah GIBSON relict of the above John McCORMACK who died 7th March 1870 aged 98 years [small flat stone at foot of above stone] In Memory of Mother Jane McDOWALL ANDREW who died at Glasgow 27th March 1876 Aged 70

Grey sandstone.

Condition:
Poor. Worn with surface loss and active flaking to east face.
Description:
Free standing headstone with round top and shoulders above central oval cartouche with flanking rosettes. Moulded pilasters. Inscription on east face within raised panel with sun-ray motifs in corners. Secondary and later inscription panel inserted into lower section of east face incorporating lead anchor. Panel attached with lead plugs (see base of west face). At base of east face of stone is an inscribed marble memorial with inlaid lead lettering (38 x 30).
